What does it consist of?

The marriage deed is the process by which two people, whether of the same or different sex, enter into marriage before a Notary, expressing their consent freely and voluntarily.

Once signed before the Notary, the marriage deed must be registered in the Civil Registry.

The matrimonial file must be processed in the locality where one of the parties is registered, and the notary will assign the corresponding notarial district based on a rotational system.

Furthermore, the marriage ceremony can only be conducted by a notary authorized in the location where the wedding takes place. This means, for example, that a notary from Murcia cannot perform a marriage in Albacete.
